I caught the Fort Mifflin episode of Ghost Hunters the other night. I used to really like that show but I think that as the years wear on, it becomes more and more cheesy. Don't get me wrong, I still watch it because sometimes it is interesting like the Eastern State Penn episode where it would be kind of hard to fabricate the shadow thingie they go there. I have been to ESP too so I can tell you personally, things move in the shadows, the overall feeling of the place is just misery and opression. So when I lived in Philly, our group went and investigated Ft. Mifflin. I don't think anyone got anything but I can tell you that the underground casement ( barracks) feels wrong. Not sure if it is because it is underground and there is so much water surrounding or what but the place is just a little creepy. Where the woman hung herself, not that big of a deal. Just felt like a room, we didn't hear any noise or anything. I think taps can be really theatrical. Makes for good television. Who would want to watch a show where a bunch of guys walk around in the dark and nothing happens?
This is AMAZING if you have not seen it, it is worth the 5 min. I guess anything IS possible
Daisy,
I think I have an answer for the bed picture but have a few questions first. Is there a window in that room? What kind of camera do you have and what setting was it on?

Hey All-
A couple of thoughts for you. I don't know how big the meetup group that did the investigation was but sometimes when you have a big group of people who do not know eachother very well, you can't tune in to the energy in the place that you are investigating. A couple of good rules of thumb for the investigation are not to go in one BIG group of people to one area. Split up. If it is a fairly small area, use groups of two. Have one person record information such as temp, conditions, happenings, emf readings etc. Have the other person operate that equipment and take pictures. Set a time limit for that area, i.e. 15 min, then switch areas. Have the other group do the same thing. If possible- Set up cameras and let them run. (yes sort of like ghost hunters) You can get special filters and light attachments for most video cameras that will help with night shots. I know that my camera's night shot is kind of crap. When you are recording or doing evp, use two recorders. I use digital because sometimes if you use magnetic tape, it gets distorted and sometimes, you can pick up internal noise as well like the reels winding the tape.
Go through ALL of the evidence before making an assesment. Write reports and keep them to refer back to or reread if you investigate the same place more than once. Compare your notes in a group setting a week or so later. You may have had the same experience as someone else and can validate the event.
As far as pictures go------ If you feel like there is something in it, there probably is. Play around with it, lighten or darken it, adjust the contrast and color. You may be able to pick something up. Take hundreds, thousands, millions of pictures. You can always erase your sd card if they are all crummy but the more you take, the better your chances are.
Don't discount personal experiences. Don't rush to judgement but pay attention to what is happening and how things around you feel. Make sure to write it down and take pictures of the event if possible.
Also, Old does not equal haunted. New does not equal not haunted.
I Am checking into the Serial Killer Tapes for you all.....More info to come.......

I came across this today. I think this is geat advice and this woman is wise. We should all take a minute to write our own love letter. Here is mine.
Dear Shann,
I love you. You have so much to offer the world. You are smart and funny, compassionate and wise. You never turn down a friend in need or anyone in need for that matter. You are fiercely loyal and stand up for what you believe in. You are open minded and honest and fair, you give most people the benefit of the doubt and allow for second chances. You are willing to listen and not judge. You love deeply and openly. You make a difference to someone in this world, someone you may not even know. You have a knack for humanity and are a great comfort to people. You rarely feel the need to assert your authority and stand out in the crowd but people seem to be drawn to you and your magnetism anyhow. Remember to take care of your physical body as well as your spiritual being, fill your cup when it is half empty. You are not fat, you are not ugly and you ARE very bright. You do need to work on your cynacism and how you let other's energy affect you, that can become toxic. Try not to fall prey to negative energy and let it drag you with it. Live with light in your life. You are a good person. Try not to be so hard on yourself so much. You are worth it. Don't ever forget that.
All my love,
me
How do you feel about your birthday? Do you look forward to it and remind all your friends, or do you dread it and try to keep it a secret?
My birthday is pretty much just a day. I think that it is nice that other people are happy I was born. I am glad I was born because I love life. I don't much like being made the center of attention so I don't really tell everyone like 6 weeks in advance and remind everyone I know every chance I get until it gets here and then continue to celebrate for a couple of weeks afterword like some people do. I still have to work that day. I don't use that as an excuse to party. I don't expect to be rewarded with gifts for something I had no control over to begin with. My mom should get the gifts, she's the one who had to endure all that pain during labor. What did I do to deserve stuff??
The one thing I look forward to on my birthday is that my husband usually takes me out to dinner at a nice restaurant. Last year I got to spend it with my family. We all went to the bonefish grill. I ordered the grouper oscar like I always do there and it was awesome!!!
Hey all,
It has come to my attention that some folks, after they do a house clearing, do not do a closing prayer. This MUST be done to "Seal" the home and prevent other energy and spirits from entering the house. Here is a closing prayer for you to use incase you don't have one or know one.
God we pray that you and your angels take and keep this troubled spirit into your divine light and let this spirit know peace. We ask that you fill our home with your divine love and light even in the darkest corners until it overflows, protect us and our home from spirits and negative energy from this day forward. Please forbid anything but that which is good, pure and divine from entering our home again. AMEN.
blessings-
Shannon
The seventh season of "American Idol" premieres tonight. Will you be watching, or are you over it?
I watched. I enjoyed. I want to know who is sicker, the producers who exploit the no-talents and crazies or us the viewers who watch and eat it up? I guess I am, I only watch the auditions.
I would say it was about half an hour later when I started hearing noises. I knew that my friend and my cousin were asleep, they had returned prior to us by about an hour. I heard the noise of a baby cry and thought that odd because we were the only four people in the whole inn. I heard some other noises and the weirdest thing was that I heard this sort of electrical grinding noise sort of like an electrical can opener. It sounded like it was coming from the little clock on the night stand so Ifigured maybe it needed to be wound, it did look old.
The room was an attic room as I have mentioned and so the ceiling leaned in due to the roof. Sort of like a dormer. The bed was set in the middle of the wall and pushed up against it as far as it could be with the headboard and there was a small gap. This caused the ceiling to slant up above it and there was a swag that hung over the top of the bed and down the sides. It was sheer so you caould see through it. The night stand was right next to it on the right side of the bed. Beyond that in the corner, there was an antique baby carriage. It had big wheels and a canopy, there were some old porcelain dolls in it. Two of them, which I had covered with a sweatshirt earlier in the day as I had unpacked so they wouldn't get "cold" (I Was a little girl once) Along the right side wall was an electric baseboard heater and out suitcases were on the floor. The doorway was along the back wall with a very beautiful dresser and the adjacent wall was a window then it bumped out a bit and an antique crib with more baby dolls in it (which I covered as well)
I picked up the clock to wind it and really, to my surprise, it was battery operated. Two AA duracells right there! I looked for an explanation as to what might have been making the noise. I shook the clock, nothing. I put it back down and thought I was being totally ridiculous. I was hearing things in a old, strange, house and I was running on hardly any sleep for the last couple of days along with a long drive. Problem solved. I decided to finish the chapter I was reading and go to sleep except I had to pee really bad but I was too scared to get up and go downstairs by my self. A few minutes later I heard K&J's door open and someone head down the stairs. I jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs and stood in front of the door and subsequently scared the crap out of my cousin when he came out. I asked him had he heard anything and he said he haden't and had been asleep since about ten pm. I went to the bathroom and then back upstairs to try and get some sleep. When I went back in I noticed a distinct creek that my door made and noticed that my sister had not skipped a beat. She was still sound asleep and haden't moved a muscle. I closed the door and hopped back into bed, finished my chapter and turned out the light. I had just about drifted off to sleep when the noises started again. This time I heard old keys jingle like someone was fumbling with them then I heard the door to our room open and close. But it didn't because the light in the hallway would have shown in. I was FREAKING but trying not to move, not to breathe, just observe. a few seconds later, a girl was standing at the foot of the bed facing the window with her head turned toward us. She was slender and had light colored hair. It was long and she had a very blunt cut in front giving her bangs. She had on a white nightdress that went to the calf and bare feet. The bodice was made of lace and was square, the sleeves of the gown came down and covered most of her fingers. I lay there and held my breath. She looked at us for a while and then turned her head toward the window and slowly walked toward it and was gone. There were no lights on in the room just moonlight coming through the window. I desperately tried to wake up my sister and dug the point of my elbow into her spine so hard, she had bruises the next day. I could not wake her up. Which is strange because she has always been a light sleeper. I had no Idea what to do. I just layed there. I pulled the covers up to my nose and tried to look at the ceiling so I wouldn't see anything else. It was a while but it seemed like forever before I got up the nerve to turn my head and look at the clock. It was 3:14 and I felt the room, which had been quite toasty, go cold. VERY COLD, I could see my breath. Then I heard that baby carriage move and saw the swag between me and the nightstand move. Like someone had pulled it back. I felt two dents in the bedcovers like someone small had rested their elbows on it and hands propping up their chin. By now, I was terrified. I slowly turned my head and heard childs footsteps run into the middle of the room, 4 or 5 steps then it was gone. I can't explain it but I felt it leave the rooom. It sounded like little Mary Janes. I must have drifted to sleep as I was praying to GOD for the sun to come up and not let anything bad happen. I was really really scared that night but I didn't feel threatened at all. I felt like whoever it was was more curious about my sister and I. I don't fee that anything there was malicious or wanted to do any harm. I had some very vivid dreams that night and the next thing I remember is my cousin banging on the door at about 8 am telling us to get up and come down to breakfast. I Flew out of my bed and into their room to ask them if they had had any experiences. They kind of llooked at me like I was nuts and said no.
We all had breakfast then went to meet up with the rest of the family. We all went into Pen Yan to watch my little cousin's football game at the high school and there was a dinner or something later that night. My friend and I decide to drive back to the inn after the football game to get ready for dinner. On the way, I told her about the ghosts in the room and she was kind of like ok sure. We got out of the car and decided to hike up to the Tea House up in the woods over the gorge. When we went in, there were a bunch of journals up there that past guests had written in and some of the stories of things that had happened to them. I remember one of the entries was a woman who had written that she heard some strange noises and had some occurances and she didn't like it there at all and could not wait to leave. We hiked back down to the main house and the Inn Keeper was sitting out on the porch reading a book. I pulled out a chair right next to her and my friend sat behind me. I asked her to tell me about the house and she started going on about the history. I cut her off and said, I think we both know that is not what I am talking about. She took off her glasses and closed her book, leaned into me and said "Do you see them often?" A chill ran up my spine and I told her no. She asked what room I was in and I told her the Yellow Rose Room. She looked straight at me and said oh, you met Rose. She then went on to describe her and said she had had a psychic friend of hers come in and identify some of the spirits in the house. I could see the hair on my friend's arm stand up. I never told her or described what had happened to me to the innkeeper, I just let her talk and tell me. She said she liked having them there and they were meant to comfort and protect her. One of the spirits was the original owner of the house and there was a mirror in the upstairs parlor that she did not like the placing of. Many times, the mirror would be found on the floor in the middle of the room and ther was no way the mirror could have just fallen off the wall, jumped over the couch and land face up on the carpet and not break. I was pretty creeped out after that even though I didn't feel threatened I did not stay there the next night, even though I paid for the room. I now regret that, I wish I had stayed and tried to make contact. It was my first profound haunting experience and I have never been back there although I have tried to find it once or twice at other times when I have visited the lake with no avail. I will definately seek it out the nex time I am there and check in on my "friends".
I watch some of those shows and I keep on waiting for something to happen, they never show any proof and... read more
